This past weekend we headed to the pumpkin patch. We had really nice weather and the kids had a blast!
Abs thought she needed to have her picture taken with EVERY scarecrow! Brayden didn't want his picture taken at all (figures!). They got to feed animals, ride a pony and a camel! We haven't carved our pumpkins yet - more pictures once we do.
Here is to adventures at the pumpkin patch ...
Abs & the scarecrows ...
Brayden thought he was strong enough to pick up the pumpkins!
Abs wanted Brayden to sit on her lap!
Who doesn't love a baby donkey!
Brayden was excited about the 'bucking bull' in the back pen!
Will we EVER get to ride the ponies?!?

Precious Pictures and Another Abby Accident
A few weeks ago Brian's cousin Kerri took pictures of the kiddos. I am so happy with them - do not know how I will decide on which ones to get! All of the pictures can be seen on her website - Kerri Lyn Photography. Kerri was so great to work with - she definitely has a lot of patience! Here are some of my favorites:
Here is a picture that Kerri took of my parents with their anniversary jersey's. LOVE!
Now, onto Abby's latest accident. Saturday afternoon we were outside in the back yard. The kids were playing up by the house and Brian & I were at the back of the property discussing what we were going to do with the landscaping. We could hear the kids playing, but they weren't fighting or crying so we didn't think anything of it. Then, Brayden comes from behind the tree with a white face and yells "ABBY IS IN TROUBLE". I was still trying to figure out what was going on when I look down and see Brian's flip-flops on the ground beside me and he is racing towards the house. Abby had fallen into one of the holding tanks for our septic system. By the time I made it to the house, Brian already had her out. What was probably less than 10 seconds seemed like an eternity. She had a couple of scrapes and was definitely scared.
When everybody calmed down, we asked her what happened. She said that Brayden took the lid off and she tripped. When she fell, she did go all the way under water (gross). She was said she didn't ever touch bottom. When she came up from the water, there was a PVC pipe that she grabbed onto like she does in gymnastics. That is how Brian found her.
We are so thankful that -
... she wasn't hurt more!
... she fell feet first, not head first!
... that Brayden was able to communicate to us that she needed help!
... that we were outside with them when this happened! (a lot of times they play alone in the backyard)
... that she didn't fall in the other holding tank! (it is deeper and a lot more dirty)
... that she has ANGELS watching over her!
Although we had a small fence around the septic tanks, we will be putting up a 6' privacy fence. The lids to both tanks have been screwed down.
I am still amazed that Brayden was able to communicate the way he did. He is only 3 and you don't always know what will come from him. For him to actually know that Abby was in trouble and for him to tell us that - wow! Saturday morning Brayden had told Brian that he was going to be a super-hero today. Well, little did we know how true that was!
I am also amazed at how fast Brian reacted, staying calm the entire time. We are all so blessed to have him as the anchor of our family!
2 more things about the accident. Brayden told me this Saturday night as I was putting him to bed. I was telling him again how proud I was of him getting help for Abby and that he was definitely my hero. He said "mom - you know that Abby is my best friend". MELT.MY.HEART! On Sunday night I was reading to the kids. Brayden chose Mater (of course) and the last page of the book says that Mater and Lightening McQueen were heroes. Abby said "mom - yesterday Brayden and daddy were heroes". I couldn't agree more!
Okay - that was a long post, but I wanted to capture the detail behind the accident.

OU Watch Party, Roller Skating and Abby's Body
We were invited to an OU watch party, which we were super excited that OU beat Notre Dame. Of course we decked out in our OU attire and I put together an OU fruit pizza, which I thought turned out pretty cute!
At school, they are learning about their bodies. Abby brought home a green piece of paper last week with instructions to trace her body, identify body parts and be creative on decorating. Well, I would say Abby definitely spent more time decorating than she did identifying parts! She did have her cousin Brailee help with the shirt today! I do have to say that I like how the shirt can be pulled up to see her belly button, heart and chest! Although she didn't decorate it how I thought she should or how I would have, I am very impressed with what she did.
Today we went roller skating for Abby's birthday. The kiddos had a great time! Abs decided NOT to use the 'walker' when she learned there was another 5 year old boy there skating without one. Ha! After skating, we came back to the house and had cupcakes with Auntie Man, Brailee, Koby, Nana and Papa. What a fantastic way to end a birthday celebration!

Happy 5th Birthday, Abby!
AMAZING - Abby turned 5 today! It was such a great day, especially when the last thing she said to me was "mom - today was a really fun day!".
We started off the morning opening presents. (Yes - she looks a little crazy, but you should be thankful she has clothes on!). Her main present was an Easy Bake Oven, which she L.O.V.E.D.! She had a special donut before heading off to school.
For school, she took all her friends a bag. The birthday kid usually brings in cupcakes, but of course we had to be different. Ha! Abby stamped all the bags, filled them with the goodies and then taped them closed. I think she did awesome!
We wrapped up the big day with a birthday dinner from Pape', which also included Mame', Auntie Man and Cousin Brailee! Of course I didn't get any pictures from dinner - darn it. We came back to the house to open a few more presents and have a delicious Monster High cake that Mame' made.
She will have a small gathering on Sunday to go roller skating and cupcakes. Oh the sweet life of a 5 year old!
Happy Birthday sweet Abs!
