Happy New Month!

This post is in honor of my niece Brailee.

A little background – growing up as kids, my mom made sure we always jumped into the New Year. Once we jumped in, we would do the other crazy stuff – bang pots & pans, sweep out the old and welcome in the new.

Present – my sister has Brailee jump into the New Year as well. This year, Brailee was 4 when she celebrated the New Year (turning 5 a few weeks later). When the month of February came, Brailee was upset because ‘MOM – we forgot to jump into the new month!’. Needless to say, my sister and Brailee have a new traditional of jumping into the new month!

I thought this was too funny and it reminds me that the kiddos definitely look at life in a totally different way than we do.

Tomorrow is a new month – are you ready to jump into it and celebrate it to its fullest?

Here is to Brailee – HAPPY MAY!!!

Brayden's 2nd Birthday

This past weekend we had Brayden’s party. I had a great time – pretty sure Brayden did too!

The day started off with a trip to Starbucks. My sister said she was buying, so I of course agreed to go. When we went to pay for it, the person in front of us picked up the tab. How awesome – a great start to the day!

Right before the party started, we couldn’t find Brayden. When we finally found him, he was in the garage eating the cupcakes out of fridge. Seriously!?!

We had the party at our house. We had a blow-up bouncy house, which was a hit. A friend of the family stopped by to make balloons for the kids – another huge hit!

We ate ‘jersey’ and ‘basketball’ sandwiches. My mom did an awesome job with making cookies (THANKS MOM!) and we had some cupcakes from a local store.

Brayden was showered with lots of love from family and friends. He gave his guests a basketball on their way out – except baby Daphne, she got a basketball rattle.

Enjoy the pictures of our adventures with Brayden’s party!

Spider Bite

Several of you asked about Abby’s spider bite, so I thought I would give you more information.

Several weeks ago Abby woke up around 11 at night crying that her leggie hurt. The good mom that I am, I shooshed her back to bed. Well, this happened for about 30 minutes. Finally, she went back to sleep.

When she woke up that morning, she was crying that she couldn’t walk and crawled into our room. Brian said he thought her leg had probably fallen asleep. I was like, but what about her crying in the night. Well, he didn’t hear any of that – of course! I was holding Abby feeling her leg and felt a knot on the back of her thigh. I lifted her up for Brian to see and he said it looked like a bug bite.

A bite. What do you do? GOOGLE of course ... and call my mom! The articles we read said not to panic – if it is a spider bite, it is okay for most bites and just watch it. I then got the thermometer out to take the temperature of her bite. It was actually about 5 degrees warmer than the rest of her skin. So, I decided to be the paranoid mom and take her to the doctor.

When we got to the doctor, Abby was walking but with a limp. I kept looking at the bite and it didn’t seem to be any worse, so I started feeling silly for taking her to the doctor. The doctor looked at the bite and felt it. He didn’t seem to like the knot or the heat from her bite. He then got out the ‘looker’ (you know – the thing they use to look in your ears and mouth) and he said ‘oh – she definitely has a spider bite'. I asked if we would be doing anything about it and he said most definitely. Abby took an antibiotic for the infection and a steroid for the venom. She did great on both of the meds and didn’t have any side effects.

We don’t have any idea what kind of spider it was because we couldn’t find it. But, we think it was probably a brown recluse due to the symptoms.

There you have it – the adventures of a spider bite at the Andrews house!

Happy 2nd Birthday Brayden!

Seriously - Brayden is already celebrating his 2nd birthday?!? Where does the time go?

Brayden is definitely 100% boy! He seems to always be pushing our buttons. And then he will say, 'Mama - I love you'. That gets me every time!

Brayden's favorite thing to do with Brian is play ball. It doesn't matter what it is - football, golf, basketball or soccer. He may be our little ball player.

Brayden definitely has his moments with his big sister, but he absolutely loves her. It is the sweetest thing to watch. When we take him to his class in the morning, he always gives Abby a hug and kiss - awhh!

Happy Birthday, Brayden!

p.s. His party is this weekend, which I am super-excited about! It is going to be a basketball theme - 2 points for our 2 year old! I cannot wait to share photos from the party - I think it is going to be a slam dunk! :)

The past year

Looking back at the past year, we have had a lot of change. No wonder my patience gets drained! Here are some things we experienced ....

- Brian got a new job in Oklahoma
- Sold our house
- Moved into an apartment
- Abby fell out the second story window
- Brayden had tubes in his ears
- I started working again
- Brayden got hand-foot-mouth disease
- Moved into a house
- Abby got bit by a nasty spider

Although it feels like we have had a lot of drama this past year, it really was a good year. I cannot wait to see what I will get to experience this coming year!

I'm Back!

Now that we are 'settled' in, I figured I should try blogging again. Any bets on how long this will last? We have a lot going on over the next few months and there is lots that has happened in the past year, so I will have plenty to blog about!
