Yes, their anniversary was about a month ago and I am FINALLY finishing up the post about it. Better late than never, right?!?
I have to say it was a lot of work to do the 40 days for my parents - probably more so for my sister since she had to make sure they received their gift every day, but it was totally worth it. I cannot say enough how lucky and blessed I feel to have them as parents. Yes, there are people who have been married longer than them, but I still think it is a great accomplishment and couldn't be happier for them. I think the biggest compliment of this process was from my mom - she said something to the fact that "you don't think your kids get you, but through this process I have realized they do get us. All the gifts were things tailored to us and really reflect what means the most to us".
Day 38 ... "40 more years of candle lit dinners".
Every couple needs a nice, romantic dinner, right?!? We had a candle lit dinner (with 40 candles) for my parents. No, it wasn't an intimate 5-course meal, but they did get Subway!
Day 39 ... "Cheers! Here is to another 40 years!"
We were at a house-warming party for our dear family friends Bob & Marian. During their party, we actually went around and everybody toasted to our parents. Very sweet! This is a picture of Marion's brother singing an anniversary song to them ...
Day 40 ... "Happy 40th Anniversary!"
My parents LOVE sports, so when my sister saw the anniversary jerseys we just knew this was going to be their final gift. My dads says "Together 19" and my moms says "Since 73". When they are standing together, it says "Together Since 1973".

Tammy, I am SO IMPRESSED with everything you all did! WOW. I am sure your parents had a great time with it. Great job doesn't even begin to cover all the work (and documentation) you put into it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope my kids like me enough to do something so fun one day.
